On March 15th, a larger update was made with a couple of new templates, some new functions and some changes in the export/import of questions to Knowledge Test.
The new templates are:
Explore in text
The template works similarly to Explore Headers. You enter a body text and a number of Word to explore. In Word to explore there is a row called Word. It is what is written there that is used to connect a word or phrase in the body text to the topic.
In the body text, you select a word or expression and click on the link symbol, i.e. Make selected text to link. In the dialog that opens, enter the same word/expression that you used for the row Word in a Word to explore. If the link does not match any topic, it is handled as a "normal" link, i.e. to an external page or other link.
Under properties, you can choose how many of the words the user needs to explore before the page is marked as complete, as well as colors for the words/expressions to be explored. So there are different colors for before they have been explored and after they have been explored. Display mode and Button labels work just like in other templates.
Explore cards
This is a template with a number of cards that flip and show more text when you click on them. A so-called flip card exercise. This template also works in a similar way to Explore Headers. You enter a body text and a number of Subjects. The difference is that all subjects need to have a Subject Image for the function to work as intended.
Under properties, you can choose how many topics the user needs to explore before the page is marked as complete, the card size, and how the text should be displayed when clicking on a card (In the card or On top of content).
On top of content is recommended if the texts are long.
In the card is recommended for shorter texts.
Display mode and Button labels work just like in other templates.
The new features are
Tables in text
There is now support for inserting tables in running text. As this is a function that is not really supported by the text editor being used, the approach is a bit more advanced than we would like.
Cells in a table are marked with "|" also called pipe sign. On a Windows PC, "Alt Gr" + "<" is used to type the character. On a Mac, "Option" + 7 is used. Note that some keyboards may say Alt instead of option. A table can therefore look like this in Author:
| Title | Column2|Column 3|
|Row 1| Row 1 Column 2|Row 1 Column 3|
There are a number of rules for tables
- The table needs to have its own paragraph. That is, enter after (and before if there is any content before).
- The table needs to be in the same paragraph. You do shift+enter between the lines.
- If there is no space between | and the text, it will be left-justified, spaces only on the left side, it will be right-justified, spaces on both sides, it will be centered.
- To make a text bold, use ** on both sides of the text.
If you paste the table text from another program, it may therefore be necessary to adjust so the right type of line break is used before, after and in the table.
Title/Menu bar in Majestic
Many people have been annoyed that the title/menu bar moves down and up again every time you change pages in an module using the Majestic theme.
Now there is a module setting so you can change the behavior if you want.
In module settings under the Theme tab, a Show Title/menu bar setting has been added.
Available choices depend on the theme you are using.
For Majestic the choices are
- On first page load. The title/menu bar is displayed on the first viewed page. If you navigate to another page it is not shown.
- On every page load. As it was before. The title/menu bar is displayed on all pages.
- Always. The title/menu bar is always displayed. The setting was previously called Always show the Menu bar.
- Always (Hide page name). A variant of Always. In this selection, the title/menu bar is always displayed but the name of the page is not displayed in the Menu/title bar.
For Standard theme the choices are
- On click/selection. The title/menu bar appears when you click on the three dots.
- Never (Hide Title/Menu). Hide the menu bar completely. This means that the user cannot access the menu.
- Always. The title/menu bar is always displayed. The setting was previously called Always show the Menu bar.
- Always (Hide page name). A variant of Always. In this selection, the title/menu bar is always displayed but the name of the page is not displayed in the Menu/title bar.
For Old_Classic the choices are
- On click/selection. The title/menu bar appears when you click on the three dots.
- Never (Hide Title/Menu Bar). Hide the menu bar completely. This means that the user cannot access the menu.
New theme for planner
In planner, it is now possible to select the theme Tiles. It's a theme that is similar to the existing theme Row but is a bit more "live". It can simply be a little nicer than the existing variants.
What has changed is:
Knowledge test, Export and import of questions
Some fixes have been made. the changes are:
- Support for multiple paragraphs.
When a text that contains several paragraphs (for example title and body text) is exported, the formatting is now retained in Excel. If you want to format yourself in Excel, two consecutive line breaks are equivalent to "new paragraph" when the text is imported back to Author. Line breaks in Excel are done with Alt + Enter. - Special characters in category names
A category in the knowledge text creates a tab in Excel. The tab name cannot contain special characters. They are therefore removed when creating tabs in the ecport. The entire category name is retained and used in the text, so this has no effect on the actual export/import process. - "Require the correct number of answer options to be marked"
This field was missing in the export/import of questions for knowledge tests.
The "reqCorrectNoOfAlt" column is now added to the export if any question in the category has the setting. The column is now also included in the example template that can be downloaded in the Knowledge test template.
